And no we are not talking length here … or circumference for that matter.

We’re talking about the head of the penis if you will. The part that looks like a little sponge … kind of.

Why is the penis fungus shaped?

Long ago, as experts believe, the penis evolved to become a “tool”, with an edge to remove semen from love rivals.

The theory behind this is quite simple – basically men would make sure that they are the one who continues their lineage and wins in a pregnancy. Survival of the fittest, and all.

Professor Gordon Gallup from State University of New York led a team of researchers to study the anatomy of the human penis and its use in 2003.

They found that the push of the penis – and the ridge that separates the head from the shaft – could actually help cleanse a woman’s vagina and reproductive system of a former lover’s semen.

Thus, a new partner will eliminate any competition and replace with his own semen.

They tested their theory in the laboratory – with latex penises and model vaginas.

By mixing starch and water together, they found that the ridge around the top of a man’s penis could remove more than 90 percent of the “semen” substitute with just one touch.

Prof Gallup said: “We theorize that human men, as a consequence of the competition for paternity, developed uniquely configured penises that function to displace semen from the vagina left by other men.

“Thus, the human penis can enable men to replace their semen with the semen of their competitors.”

He said they found evidence that couples tend to have more energetic sex if the woman has been suspected of infidelity or if a couple has been apart.

It could, he said, be due to a subconscious desire to rid his partner of any trace of another man’s semen.

Prof Gallup’s colleague, Rebecca Burch, added: “A longer penis would not only have been an advantage for leaving semen in a less accessible part of the vagina, but by filling and enlarging the vagina it would also help and alleviate the displacement of semen left behind. of the vagina. other men as a means of maximizing the likelihood of paternity, “in the study, published in the Journal of Evolutionary Psychology.

The theory dates back to centuries ago, when women wanted to have sex with a number of partners to increase their chances of getting pregnant.

So while that may be why the human penis evolved the way it did, chances are it will be less important to guys these days.

What other penis forms are there?

To be honest, there are so many different types of penis shapes.

There is no standard shape and no penis should be considered normal or abnormal.

While most will be variations on the mushroom shape, they can have a number of differences.

Size, girth, angle or circumcision are all among the factors that can make men have different penises.
