Weather forecast in the DC area: Warm, dry start to the week, but then tendency to cooler, wetter

The week starts off fantastic with partial sunshine and pleasantly warm temperatures. But it’s cooler in the second half of the week with numerous chances of rain. The wettest period is likely to occur between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon, with heavy rainfall.

Today (Monday): Get complaints today. After patchy fog early, the sky will be partly sunny, with temperatures from 75 to 80. The wind is weak from the west with around 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: A pleasant evening yields for a cool period overnight. Under mostly clear skies, the lows range from 45 to 50 in our cooler areas to the low to mid-50s in the center. The wind is mostly calm and we can not rule out a few fog points in the morning. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Another lovely day in a row. The sky is partly sunny as light breeze (5 to 10 mph) comes in from the southeast. Highlights are in the middle to the upper 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: It will be mostly cloudy during the evening with the possibility of showers and maybe thunderstorms overnight. Low temperatures range from 55 to 60 with light winds from the southeast. Confidence: Medium-High

It’s still a little hot Wednesday before a cool front comes later in the day, possibly triggering some showers and thunderstorms. Highlights are in the middle to the upper 70s. Any lingering showers on Wednesday night subside during the night, with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

We are in the middle of weather systems on Thursday, which should turn out to be one of the nicer days of the week. The sky will be partly sunny with temperatures close to 70. Partly to mostly cloudy at night with a chance of showers. Low levels range from 50 to 55. Confidence: Medium-High

Periods of rain are likely Friday and Saturday and can be heavy at times, especially Friday afternoon and night. The clouds and rain hold the highs to 65 to 70 on Friday and 60 to 65 on Saturday, with low at night in the 50s. It will not rain all the time, but an empty rain, maybe more, seems possible. The chance of rain should decrease late Saturday and especially Saturday, with lows close to 50. Confidence: Medium
