A slightly subjective assessment of today’s weather on a scale from 0 to 10.

5/10: We run another race for fast afternoon sun before a cold front ruins the fun.

  • Today: Mostly cloudy. Height: 67 to 73.
  • Tonight: Cleaner, cooler. Low: 40 to 48.
  • Tomorrow: Sunny, fresh. Height: 58 to 62.

We have another shot today to run at 70 before a cool front makes us go into yet another cooler than normal period starting tonight and lasting through the work week. There is at least sunshine every day. Closer to normal temperatures return over the weekend with some showers possible Sunday.

Today (Tuesday): Mostly cloudy with light morning fog and then scattered afternoon showers. Partial sunshine is possible in the afternoon to allow temperatures to briefly reach around 70 degrees (best chance is after lunchtime). The total amount of rainfall should be relatively light, and in most places one can see a tenth of an inch or less. Light breeze in the morning shifts in the afternoon to come from northwest with 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Clear skies and getting cooler with lows in the 40s. Winds from the north at 10 to 15 mph give an even cooler, fresh feeling in the air. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): It is a very cool day in late April with annoying winds from the northwest of 10 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph. Despite sunshine, the heights only reach the upper 50s to perhaps low 60s, which is about 10 degrees cooler than normal. The combination of dry air and gusts of wind means that pollen should be very airborne. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear and colder with low temperatures up to the 30s. Wind speeds in the range of 5 to 15 mph should reduce significant frost problems in our colder suburbs. Confidence: Medium

Thursday is another day that is cooler than usual. Even with sunny skies, the highs only reach the low 60s, while cool breezes continue. Thursday night should be clear and cold again with lows in the 30s to around 40. Pockets with frost will be possible in our colder areas. Confidence: Medium

Friday offers mostly sunny skies with temperature rises to the mid 60’s. Friday night should see a few clouds, but continue to be cool with lows in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

That weekend should start with a nicer tone with a predominantly sunny Saturday, as high temperatures finally return to around 70 degrees, which is more typical for this time of year. Partly cloudy Saturday night with low in the 40s to low 50s. Sunday starts on the sunny side, but edges partly cloudy in the afternoon and evening, where showers occur. Highs manages to reach the low 70s. Confidence: Low-Medium
