Viola Davis responds to critics of her Michelle Obama portrayal

Davis grew up in Central Falls, Rhode Island in a crumbling building, infested with rats, often without hot water, gas or electricity. She wet the bed until she is 14. “I smelled of urine” she writes in Finding Me. Constantly bullied at school, there was also domestic violence. Her biggest fear? “My father will kill my mother one day.”
