Venom 3 officially green light by Sony

After the amazing critical and financial success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony Pictures continues to work on expanding its own cache of Spider-Man movies outside the MCU. Before the critical and economic downturn from Morbius and in front Madame Web and The Hunter The Collarthis venture started with Tom Hardy’s Married films in 2018 and 2021.

Hardy’s first outing as Eddie Brock and his symbiotic alien best friend shocked the world, earning more than $ 850 million at the global box office, along with an 81% audience result on Rotten Tomatoes. Three years later, Venom: Let there be carnage helped bring the global box office back to prominence with a $ 90 million opening weekend, the best non-No way home year in total.

Since both films have achieved enough success to compete with other big names in the superhero genre, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before this duo becomes a full trilogy. Now, after a brief hiatus from MCU thanks to Peter Parker and Doctor Strange, Sony seems ready to revisit the Venom verse again.

Sony confirms plans for third Venom movie

At CinemaCon 2022, via Variety, Sony Pictures announced that they have officially given the green light to the development of a third Married movie. No other official information on the threequel was made available, including its cast or expected release date.

Sony gets its first trilogy with Venom

Even for all the negative things that came with them, Married and Venom: Let there be carnage achieved a fair amount of success among both fans and critics. With over $ 1.3 billion in total ticket revenue and more positive reviews than other Sony features, this franchise helps keep the Spider-Man universe profitable for the time being.

Tom Hardy has already talked about what he wants to see in another Married film, hoping to get even bigger with the story than he did in the first two excursions. It’s unclear whether director Andy Serkis will show the way again, and it will probably take some time before more concrete news comes out about what the dynamic duo Eddie and Venom will face next.

The last fans saw Eddie, he and Venom being transported out of the MCU after Doctor Strange’s incantation put the world back to normal in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That experience will definitely leave an impression on them, and even though part of the Venom symbiote stayed in the MCU, there are plenty of challenges left to tackle in their own home.

Gift 3 is currently in the early stages of development under Sony Pictures.
