UK Export Finance appoints Tim Reid as Business Group Director

Following Gordon Welsh’s retirement, former HSBC Transaction Banker Tim Reid has been appointed Director of the UK Export Finances (UKEF) Business Group.

Reid is expected to assist in the implementation of the Export Credit Agency’s four-year business strategy, which was introduced in 2020 and focuses on assisting a larger number of UK companies in exporting goods and financing companies involved in the global transition to net zero carbon emissions.

Reid replaces Welsh, who left UKEF after almost 25 years. Welsh has previously held various top positions in the agency, including head of product and business development and head of aviation, before in 2016 he was appointed head of his business group.

Reid spent 34 years at HSBC, leading the company’s global and commercial banking divisions in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as its continental European commercial banking unit.
