Twinkle Khanna had a memorable career in the 90s and early 2000s before she started writing. One of her most popular roles is in Baadshah. The film, released in 1999, saw her share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. While fans know the film as an iconic comedy, Twinkle Khanna has remembered details from the footage that will make one look at it in a whole new light.
Twinkle Khanna recently opened up about what was happening behind the scenes while recording for a song sequence. That track was Mohabbat Ho Gayee. It’s a romantic song where Twinkle wears a body-hugging outfit, just like the rest of her movie wardrobe. Twinkle has now revealed that she had only eaten channa prior to the filming for the song to fit into an outfit designed by Manish Malhotra.
In a recent interview with the designer on her YouTube channel, Twinkle Khanna opened up about her experience on the stages of Baadshah. Speaking of a sequence involving Shah Rukh Khan, she said: “Every time I had to wear Manish Malhotra clothes, it meant that either I did not eat, I had to suck my stomach in. There was a sang where you had made the clothes and I only ate chana for a week. “
She talked about a part of the song where SRK was going to lift Twinkle up, and she said, “I was very scared that if the hero lifts me, I’ll just be like a gas ball, because all I had was chana. But it is what you should do to wear your clothes.
Meanwhile, Malhotra also reflected on how problematic it was then to say, “It was such a tendency at the time that one should also be a victim of it.”
On the work front, Twinkle Khanna is to publish a film adaptation of a short story from her bestselling book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad.
