Twin brothers are fighting for a valedictory position at Katy High School

KATY – Draw is officially broken. Arman Saxena has been named the Katy High Schools valedictorian. His twin brother, Ronak Saxena, is a salutator.

The draw was so close that it only came down to about half a point.

Twin brothers Arman and Ronak are seniors at Katy High School.

The two were born just a minute apart.

They have always been close to pretty much everything.

“Chess competitions, we did math competitions, we did oral reading competitions,” Arman said.

“We have always achieved the same level of success, even in different subjects,” Ronak said.

The two have been tied neck and neck to number one at Katy High School.

“I never expected us to be as tall as we are, valedictorian and salutatorian, but I thought we would be a draw,” Arman said.

They both currently have around a 5.0 GPA and are involved in several activities. They even started the school’s only quiz bowl team.

But at Katy High School, there can only be one valedictorian.

“They had to look at all the classes we shared and who got the higher grades in those classes,” Arman said.

The brothers say it has never been a rivalry, only a friendly competition.

“If he got an A on a test, I would say, ‘Oh, I have to have this A too,'” Ronak said.

They have worked hard, pushed each other and helped each other along the way.

“I would say we have always been really close, as fraternal twins it is inevitable,” Arman said.

The boys credit their parents for much of their success.

“My parents have certainly always pressured us to do our best,” Ronak said.

“The main goal we have for our boys is just that they grow up to be good people,” said mother Sara Saxena.

“We are very, very proud of what they have done so far, something we are very happy about,” said Father Rohit Saxena.

Both brothers plan to attend Rice University this fall. Arman plans to study statistics and business, and Ronak will study biotechnology.
