Trevor Bauer is suing for domestic violence, attorney

Trevor Bauer has filed another lawsuit related to allegations of domestic abuse from last year.

On Monday, Bauer filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California Southern Division against his prosecutor and her attorney, Niranjan Fred Thiagarajah, alleging defamation and injurious interference.

Bauer, a 31-year-old pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, has previously filed a defamation suit against Deadspin, The Athletic and former Athletic writer Molly Knight related to the same case.

“[The accuser] fabricated allegations of sexual assault against plaintiff Trevor Bauer, prosecuted false criminal and civil cases against him, made false and malicious statements about him, and created a media flash based on her lies, ”the lawsuit states.

“[The accuser’s] the motives for making her false allegations and statements are now clear. She wanted to destroy Mr. Bauer’s reputation and baseball career, attracting attention
for himself and extract millions of dollars from Mr. Bauer. [The accuser] was assisted in these endeavors by his lawyer, accused Niranjan Fred Thiagarajah. Although a Los Angeles Supreme Court judge rejected [the accuser’s] false allegations and the District Attorney of Los Angeles County found them unworthy of being charged with criminals, the injury to Mr. Bauer has been extreme. ”

In February, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced that it would not prosecute the sexual assault charges the former Cy Young winner faced last year. Prior to that, a California Superior Court judge rejected the prosecutor’s request for a restraining order.

Bauer was accused of beating and strangling an unconscious woman during sex. The pitcher admitted to having had rough sex with the prosecutor, but said it was with consent. During the case, Bauer’s lawyer claimed that the jug had text messages from the prosecutor “which included requests to be ‘strangled’ and slapped in the face” and that “the woman spent the night and went without incident and continued to send messages to Mr Bauer. with friendly and flirtatious teasing. ”

MLB and MLBPA agreed to place Bauer on paid administrative leave in late June. They have been expanding that week by week during this season.

“After their first sexual encounter, [the accuser] continued to pursue Mr. Bauer so she could have hard sex with him again, but this time she told Mr. Bauer that she wanted a harder sexual experience, ”the case continues. “Ignorant of Mr. Bauer, who believed [the accuser] just expressed his sexual preferences, [the accuser’s] The aim was to entice Mr Bauer to have a harsher sexual experience, so that she could later claim that this sexual experience was not what she asked for, thereby laying the foundations for a financial settlement.

“To carry out her plan, [the accuser] told Mr. Bauer unequivocally that she was interested in participating in even rougher sex on another occasion, and communicating in explicit detail about the sexual experience she wanted. During their second sexual encounter, the two again engaged in consensual rough sex, involving the harsh sexual acts that [the accuser] requested. “

The case alleges that the prosecutor filed a false police report in which she claimed that Bauer had “sexually assaulted her during their second sexual encounter by strangling her unconscious on two occasions, beating her in the face and vagina repeatedly and scratching her in the face.”

He denies having strangled her without her consent and denies having hit her in the face or vagina or scratched her “in any way”.

The lawsuit also alleges that the prosecutor failed to maintain electronic communications, saying she “deliberately deleted dozens of text messages, videos and photographs from her phone, including text messages with her two closest confidants immediately after her second sexual encounter with Mr. Bauer. “

Bauer is represented in the suit Blair Brown and Jon Fetterolf of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP and Shawn Holley and Kate Mangels of Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley LLP.

Niranjan Fred Thiagarajah, the prosecutor’s lawyer mentioned in the case, has not responded to the request for comment at the time of publication.
