Marvel fans have visited Multiverse of madnessand they are now looking forward to Thor: Love and Thunder. The next Marvel Cinematic Universe feature film will be Thor’s fourth solo feature, pairing Chris Hemsworth with a recurring Natalie Portman as a power-up Jane Foster exerting her own Asgardian powers. In a new screenshot from the film released today, Thor Stormbreaker lifts his favorite weapon since Avengers: Infinity War.

Next to the screen, Entertainment Weekly talked about it with Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi to talk about the film’s instruction. Above all else, Waititi did not want to repeat himself when he returned to Marvel’s most powerful hero. “I needed to do something more interesting for myself to keep it all on and to make sure I feel creatively stimulated. I thought, what’s the least expected thing with this franchise?

Thor’s lost love suddenly becoming a peer in the superhero society is certainly a direction and it will be one that deeply affects Thor’s trajectory as a character. Waititi describes it all as a “midlife crisis movie” that deals with more serious subject matter than his Thor: Ragnarok while remaining as fun as Marvel fans expect.

Thor: Love and Thunder flying to the cinema on July 8th. In addition to the two gods, the film stars Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, a longtime Thor cartoonist who hits MCU for the first time. The film will also introduce Marvel’s Greek pantheon, in which Russell Crowe plays Marvel’s iteration of Zeus.
