The German national team player’s current contract with Chelsea expires this summer, and the defender has not managed to reach an agreement with the club.
The 29-year-old’s representative has already had talks with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United ahead of a summer switch.
And Tuchel revealed after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday that Rudiger has decided to stop his time at Stamford Bridge.
‘Toni … the media is on it. The situation appears to be that he is leaving the club, Tuchel said.
‘He informed a few days ago in a personal talk.
‘We gave everything, me and the club, but we could not fight anymore because of the sanctions.
‘[Without the sanctions] we would at least have had the chance to keep fighting, so for many weeks our hands are tied. I do not know what the result would have been. We do not take it personally.
– Character-wise and personally, he is a key figure, and he will remain so until the end of the season. But it is, of course, very disappointing.
Asked how much he will miss him, Tuchel replied: ‘A lot.
‘He has a lot of influence in the locker room. He is the one who gives other people courage.
‘He’s the guy everyone’s a little scared of, he’s the kind of player, but let’s also focus on the sport, the kind of playing 50-55 games, 90 minutes, at an excellent level.
– He has been the top defender for the last year and a half for me. I have nothing but respect for what he did.
‘He has to move on to the last, then we have to find another solution.’
