The sheriff’s deputy in Seffner, Florida rescued a child from a burning house Thursday night.

When the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at a home that was completely engulfed in flames at 6 p.m. 22:48, neighbors stood outside the yard shouting at deputies and telling them a child was still inside.

Deputies then entered the home by smashing a glass pane and found a 9-year-old boy inside, according to the sheriff’s department.

Deputy Kevin Reich and Deputy Alexander Maldonado asked the child to get as close to the window as possible and they were able to grab him and pull him out the window.

The child is in critical condition due to smoke inhalation and the child’s mother and homeowner were taken to a local hospital.

It is because of their heroism that this young boy came out alive, “said Sheriff Chad. Kronister. “Law enforcement is often the first to respond to any emergency, so we must always be ready to step in and help. These deputies never hesitated. They are true examples of what it means to be a hero.”
