The Lakers buy second round from Orlando

14:04: The deal is complete, Magic confirmed in a press release (Twitter link). In 2028, Orlando will host either the Lakers ‘or Wizards’ second round, whichever is best.

12:54: That Lakers will trade into the second round of tonight’s draft by acquiring the 35th pick from Magic in exchange for cash and a future second round, tweets ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski.

Orlando will receive LA’s election in the second round in 2028, sources tell the Khobi Price of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link).

The Lakers had tried to land a draft pick and are now in a position to grab all the expected late first-rounders slipping a few spots. Wendell Moore, Christian Braun and Caleb Houston may be names to behold, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer (Twitter link).

The trade leaves Magic with choices no. 1 and 32.
