Strauss extends product recall – Globes

Following two positive results in tests for salmonella in two chocolate products sold to retail stores, Strauss has announced that it is extending its recall to all products from the factory concerned: Elite Chocolate, Elite Cakes, Elite Waffles, Energy snack bars, Energy chocolate-coated rice crackers, chewing gum and soft candies, with all expiration dates.

“The company will only restore the candy factory in Nof Hagalil into operation once the shaving error has been rectified and the products are completely safe to consume,” the company’s announcement states.

“Laboratory results received within the last few hours indicate an initial suspicion (the final results are not yet available) of salmonella in two individual samples of two chocolate products, out of 270 samples of products that were checked and went out in stores and were a part of the recall that was announced. The results have been reported to the Ministry of Health.

“In light of these results, the company’s management decided to act with full responsibility and not to take any risk, even if it is low, and to remove all the factory products from the store shelves.”

Strauss Israel’s CEO Eyal Dror said: “We do not want to take any risks with regard to public health, and due to the widespread confusion among consumers, we decided this morning, in consultation with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, to be extra careful and expand the collection of products despite the fact that at present we have no indications of problems with these products. We will not take any risk and we will bear the full cost as expected of us. ” The company says all its other products are safe to consume.

In a video clip released yesterday, Dror said that any consumer who contacted Strauss’ customer service center would receive double compensation for any product purchased that is affected by the recall.
