Prince Charles has been widely reported over the past decade for planning a more streamlined firm to lead when he takes office. This could mean reducing the number of working royals and individuals bearing an HRH title, steps that would make the royal family cheaper for taxpayers and more modern.

Royal Author Brian Hoey believes there are a few royal members who are currently considered full-time members who could be “distanced” from the core of the company if the Prince of Wales’ reported plans, which he never confirmed, came into being reality.

However, he does not believe that Sophie and Prince Edward are among them.

On the contrary, he believes there is a possibility that the Wessexes may take on an “even greater” share of the work during King Charles’ reign than they have now.

He told Express.co.uk: “I think Edward and Sophie might also be included to take on an even bigger share of the royal duties than they currently do. I think they will.

“And they will be welcomed.

“They had their problems in the past, as we know, Prince Edward was made fun of because of his theatrical ideas, and Sophie, because when she worked in PR, she made one or two indiscretions, if you will.

“But they have since behaved impeccably and done tremendously well since.”

Speaking about who could not be included in a possible slender monarchy, Mr Hoey said: “I wonder if Prince Charles might want to distance himself from the detached house members of the royal family – Kents, Gloucesters – if he wants to distance them from the royal house middle part. ”

Speaking of their past “problems”, the royal author referred to Sophie and Edward’s careers prior to their decision to fully dedicate themselves to royal duties in the early 2000s.

The Earl, a lover of art, pursued a career in entertainment and in the mid-1980s commissioned two musicals – leading to a job offer at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Theater Company, where the Royal worked as a production assistant.

Edward entered television production in 1987 with a charity show known as It’s a Royal Knockout, poorly received by the media.

In the early 1990s, he created his own production company – Ardent Production.

In September 2001, a two-man crew from Ardent was reportedly found in the city of Fife, close to the university that Prince William was studying at the time, a move seen as a breach of the media blackout agreed with the palace for the entire duration of the Duke of Cambridges. studies.

Ardent, however, disputed at the time that the crew was trying to film the prince.

In March 2002, Edward resigned as Ardent’s Production Director and Co-CEO to concentrate on his public duties and support the Crown and Queen.

In 2001, two years after marrying Edward, Sophie also became involved in a scandal while working in PR, sharing personal opinions with a reporter posing as a sheik, whom the Countess had seen as a potential client.

Like her husband, Sophie left her PR career shortly after to focus solely on her patronage and earning the crown.

Despite her mistakes, Sophie is believed to have gained the trust of the sovereign over the years and to have grown to be one of her close confidants.

The Countess has previously been described by royal commentators as the company’s “secret weapon” and the queen’s favorite.

Edward and Sophie, who live in Bagshot Park in Surrey, enjoy spending time at Balmoral Castle with the Queen over the summer and often, albeit in a socially distant way, visited the monarch and her late husband during the 2020 and 2021 shutdowns.

This week, the Wessexes have gained the confidence to take on a trip to the Caribbean where they will visit Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as well as Antigua and Barbuda.

On Thursday, just a day before the start of the tour, it was revealed that the royals were no longer traveling to Grenada, as previously announced by Buckingham Palace.

The palace said the decision was made after talks with the island’s government and governor general.
