Serena Williams has apparently closed all reports she is set to retire from tennis, by teasing that she will be back at Wimbledon this year.

The 40-year-old has not played a match since Wimbledon last year but had been on his way to the Australian Open in January before suffering a hamstring injury.

But in a recent video on social media showing alongside Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Williams suggested she would be back at Wimbledon in late June.

“I’m backstage at a Bitcoin conference in Miami with Aaron Rodgers here,” Williams said.

‘We’ve talked about my comeback and he’s hyped me up and made me ready for Wimbledon. Can not wait!’

Rodgers seemed taken aback by the Wimbledon revelation and said: ‘Wimbledon? What about the US Open? ‘

Williams replied: ‘Wimbledon is before the US Open! I have to play Wimbledon first! ‘

It could be put on the bed reports that the 23-time Grand Slam winner is set to retire as she divorced her longtime coach Patrick Mouratoglou earlier today, who has now teamed up with Simona Halep.

Mouratoglou took to Twitter to confirm their split after 10 years together, as he has missed coaching Williams while she has been inactive for the past year.

“In the last eight months, I realized how much I have missed training,” he said in a statement on Twitter. ‘It’s the passion of my life and I still feel like I have so much to give.

Simona came to Mouratoglou Academy before Indian Wells for a training block. I swung past for a couple of her exercises, watching her train.

‘At the end of the week, she asked me if I was available to coach her. I have the utmost respect for her, but that was out of the question at the time.

A few weeks later, I had a conversation with Serena, and the door opened for me, at least in the short term, to work with someone else.

‘I will keep you updated soon on what comes next.’
