New York police are searching for two suspects who, they say, beat, stabbed and stabbed a 25-year-old man during a malicious robbery in the Bronx earlier this month.

New York City Police Department (NYPD) crime detectives said the robbery, taken on camera, as seen below, took place in the 800 block on East 167th Street in the Bronx just before noon. 20.00 on 7 May.

Police said two suspects attacked the man on East 167th Street while sitting in his BMW, 1010 WINS reported. One of the suspects entered the vehicle through the front passenger’s side door and the other gained access to the car through the rear driver’s side door, News 12 the Bronx noted. Authorities said the suspect in the passenger seat allegedly waved a firearm while ordering the victim to surrender over his belongings, and the 25-year-old tried to get away from the perpetrators, according to the outlet.

Police said a fight broke out outside the BMW, where the two suspects began slinging the victim and subsequently pulling knives, which they used to stab and chop the man, according to 1010 WINS. The 25-year-old was transported “to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition” after the couple snatched two chains, three bracelets and a watch from him, for an estimated total value of $ 1,000, according to the business.

The suspects “were last seen fleeing into 818 E. 167th St,” according to 1010 WINS.

The incident comes as crime has risen dramatically this year in the Democratic-run city.

The seven major crimes have increased by 40.7 percent from January 1 to May 15 compared to the same period in 2021, the NYPD’s crime statistics show. Burglary has increased by 33.6 percent, major thefts have increased by 53.1 percent, major thefts have increased by 58 percent, and robberies have increased by 42.5 percent compared to last year. While crime rates have gotten out of control under Mayor Eric Adams’ supervision, the first-year mayor may reportedly have an eye on a presidential candidacy in 2024.
