The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Eighth Summit of the Speakers of Parliament of the Group of Twenty held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. The meeting was attended by the delegation from the Federal National Council, whose membership includes His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, Aisha Reda Al-Bairaq, member of the Council, and Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Council, and Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary General for Council Presidency Affairs.

His Excellency Saqr Ghobash and His Excellency Dr. Puan Maharani emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two councils to support the directions of the governments of the two countries in view of the well-established political, economic and cultural relations which are witnessing remarkable growth and enjoying the support of the leaderships of the two countries on the need to strengthen the Emirati-Indonesian partnership, given the two countries’ capabilities and elements that require doubling and leveraging efforts to achieve the bonds of joint cooperation between them. On the other hand, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Chairman of the Federal National Council, yesterday met with His Excellency Chen Zhou, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly of China, on the sidelines of the Eighth Summit of Speakers of the Group of twenty, held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, in the presence of Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar Emirates to the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting was also attended by a delegation from the Federal National Council, His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al-Nuaimi, Aisha Rida Al-Bairaq, members of the council, Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman Al-Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Council, and Tariq Ahmed Al-Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary General for Council Presidency Affairs.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen the existing parliamentary cooperative relations between the two sides. With the aim of activating joint cooperation at the level of parliamentary work and coordination in international conferences and forums, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation signed between the two councils and the Joint Parliamentary Friendship Committee.

His Excellency Saqr Ghobash emphasized the UAE government and people’s pride in the Emirati-Chinese friendship in light of the comprehensive strategic partnership signed between the two countries in 2018, which represents a model of relations between countries based on mutual respect, common interests and understanding of various regional and international issues with the aim of creating security, peace, development and justice. He referred to the visits of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the State, may God protect him, to the People’s Republic of China in recent years and this year, and his meeting with President Xi Jinping of the Republic of China, which represents a new phase in the UAE-China relations and the consolidation of the strength of joint progress in various fields.
