Police have found a three-month-old baby who was kidnapped from an apartment when his grandmother unloaded groceries from her car outside in broad daylight.

Police found the infant, Brandon Cuellar, on Tuesday.

“Baby Brandon will be taken to a local hospital as a safety precaution, but he has been found alive,” the San Jose Police Department tweeted. ‘A million thanks to everyone who has helped. More to come. ‘

Police were looking for a man who abducted the baby from a home on the 1000 block of Elm Street in San Jose, California on Monday afternoon.

Authorities said Tuesday that three suspects had been detained and that more details about them would come. Police told former journalists they had detained a woman as ‘a person of interest’ because of inconsistent information in her statements about the incident. Officials will not later comment on whether the woman was among the three people detained.

The woman who was remanded in custody was with the grandmother before she was abducted by a man who is still unknown, police officer Christian Camarillo said in San Jose on Tuesday.

“This was someone who was at Grandma’s yesterday when they went shopping, she was present in the apartment complex when this happened,” Camarillo said. ‘There have been some inconsistencies with what she has told us. It is clear to draw our attention to what she knows about this. ‘

The suspect was described as a Latin American man wearing black trousers, a dark blue shirt, gray shoes, a gray baseball cap and a black mask. The baby’s family said they did not recognize him.

Brandon was in a black sling with a white blanket. He was wearing a white onesie with a dinosaur.

The California Highway Patrol released early Tuesday a description of a car that may have been used by the suspect, but the police department later stated that it could not ‘confirm any information regarding a CHP tweet about a possible suspicious vehicle involved in the child abduction case’.

Camarillo said Brandon’s mother was working at the time he was kidnapped and that his father is in jail.

‘Dad right now is out of the picture. He’s in jail. I do not know, you know if it’s going to play into this, but of course we’ll talk to him soon, Camarillo said. It is unclear why the father is in jail. ‘
