Film exhibition company PVR Cinemas announced on Thursday that it has entered into a partnership with Oma Cinema from France to introduce the concept of “cinema pods” to the Indian market.
The announcement was made at CinemaCon 2022 in Las Vegas, an assembly of cinema owners from around the world, it said in a joint statement.
Through its vertical architecture, Oma provides the audience with an intimate movie experience with a floor-to-ceiling balcony or “pods” that allow viewers to enjoy a sociable cinema experience while enjoying a perfect view of the screen.
PVR’s growth and strategy manager Pramod Arora said that PVR is committed to building cinemas with more experiential elements, which is not possible in a home environment.
With “an opportunity to hold a private film party with friends and family, OMA pods will be your own space, offering an unsurpassed tailor-made experience of watching a movie on a very large screen along with custom-made R&B opportunities. Many companies have been used to their own box at sporting events in stadiums, and now they must have the opportunity to also have one in a cinema, ”Arora added.
Oma Cinema was created by the famous French architect Pierre Chican, who has designed some of the most groundbreaking cinemas in France over the last 30 years, the statement said.
Oma Cinema founder and president Pierre Chican said: “We are delighted to bring the unique and proprietary concept of cinema pods to India with this exclusive PVR connection. Our design ensures that each pod in an auditorium is unique and designed to perfection. “
