This summer, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner completed his switch back to Old Trafford after 12 years away.
Despite the team’s overall matches during this period, Ronaldo has managed to score 22 goals across tournaments – making him the club’s top scorer this season.
The 37-year-old’s latest goal was in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend.
The result has meant the Gunners are back in the driver’s seat for the top four, while United are now behind North London by six points.
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving Arsenal in January and Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract this summer, the club are believed to be aiming for a striker this summer.
In a speech to talkSPORT, Morgan admitted that in a conversation with Ronaldo, he encouraged the Portuguese national team player to join Mikel Arteta’s side.
“When it comes to money and owners and riches and banks, we have the richest of them all,” Morgan told talkSPORT.
‘Stan Kroenke has gained £ 10 billion, he is married to a woman who has gained even more in the Walmart heir, who has £ 15 billion. He just bought a ranch for £ 750 million, he can afford to buy a couple of strikers!
‘You know what I would do if I were Arsenal manager? I would go in, pick up Cristiano Ronaldo and put him in front.
‘I had this conversation with him last week. I said: “Come to Arsenal”.
– That with Arsenal and Manchester United is very interesting. On paper, United have far more talented players and far more experienced, talented players, but they do not have the right attitude.
‘The mental attitude is shocking. No matter what happens at that club … if they did not have Ronaldo on the team, they would not win, whereas Arsenal have young, hungry, really promising guys who have a great attitude. People like [Bukayo] Of, [Emile] Smith Rowe, [Kieran] Tierney and all these guys.
‘That’s what’s encouraging. If you combined the United talent with our mentality, both clubs would be sorted.
‘I’m not even joking. I would love to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal. If he does not want to stay at United, I would take him with a heartbeat.
‘I watched that match at the weekend and he was the best player on the pitch.
“As a striker, when you see Ronaldo’s move and his goal scoring record of 37 years, I would put Ronaldo in front and let these kids learn from him.”
