Paul Merson is asking for Ruben Neves among Manchester United connections

Paul Merson has called on Arsenal to take a step after Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves amid speculation he could become a target for Manchester United.

United have been tipped to switch to the Portuguese midfielder this summer, although they have not yet registered a firm interest. Declan Rice has been a player of interest for a number of seasons after establishing himself as a key member of the West Ham squad, with the defensive midfield position at the helm of United’s transfer plans this summer.

Bruno Lage’s side is fighting for a European place after a solid first campaign at Molineux for the Portuguese boss. Neve’s future has been speculated about lately, and he seems to have no end in sight to potential suitors.

Merson has urged his old team Arsenal to step up their efforts to pick up Neves and doubted whether he will stay at Molineux. “If I were Arsenal, I would go after Ruben Neves,” he wrote on SportsKeeda.

“Manchester United will also be after him. I’m not sure how the Wolves will keep him at the club, to be honest.”
