A bid for the 21-year-old has not yet been made, but the Magpies are reportedly considering a £ 35m bid for the talented youngster.
Everton do not want to sell one of the brightest young stars they have produced in years, but if a big deal comes in and Gordon is tempted by the inevitable huge salaries offered at St James’ Park, then one can agreement is entered into.
Having already received £ 50 million for Richarlison, in a deal with Tottenham that could rise to £ 60, the prospect of bringing in around £ 100 million to the Brazilian and Gordon could be too good to reject.
However, Gordon is very well-liked by manager Frank Lampard, who sees him as an important part of the side he is trying to build at Goodison Park.
Lampard said of Gordon last season ahead of a clash with Chelsea: ‘Anthony is a fantastic child and possesses one of the best young attitudes I have experienced in the game.
‘We’re playing against him this weekend and he’s very similar to Mason Mount.
‘Very similar in his attitude, use, his talent levels, and he’s fine this week, he’s determined, that’s what he is.
The winger played 35 Premier League games last season, 25 of which were in the starting XI, while scoring four league goals.
Newcastle have already signed three senior players this summer, signed Sven Botman from Lille for 35 million pounds, Nick Pope from Burnley for 10 million pounds and turned Matt Target’s loan transfer from Aston Villa into a permanent one for 15 million pounds.
