Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness is expected to contain many cameos as it highlights the concept of alternative realities. The upcoming MCU sequel has already been confirmed to show the return of Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier and a Captain Marvel variant that clearly looks like Maria Rambeau. Another notable Illuminati member who has been teased is Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter.
Captain Carter was first introduced in the debut episode of What if…? animated series, a story in which Peggy received the Super Soldier Serum in place of Steve Rogers. The character returned during the finale after The Watcher recruited her to save the Multiverse. Now Captain Carter will make his debut on the big screen in Multiverse of madnessbut it is unknown if it will be the same variant as the one from the animated Disney + show.
Ahead of the long-awaited release of the sequel, new footage of Captain Carter has appeared.
Doctor Strange 2’s marketing hype on Captain Carter
Marvel Studios has officially released a brand new promo for Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madnessshowing fresh footage of the core characters and Hayley Atwell’s captain Carter.
The 30-second trailer includes a new image of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch alongside Benedict Wong’s Wong, in which the couple apparently reunite.
The footage also reveals Doctor Strange’s interrogation scene with the Illuminati, where Captain Carter throws his shield at the MCU hero.
A closer look at Captain Carter’s shield is also highlighted, where the weapon has a similar design as its What if…? counterpart.
Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier is also present, with the X-Men leader telling Strange, “we want to see what kind of Doctor Strange you are.”
The trailer also reveals a scary look at Wanda Maximoff as she attacks the Illuminati base:
At the end of the trailer, Strange appears to be struggling to control his magic, presumably during his duel against Sinister Strange.

How Captain Carter fits into Doctor Strange 2
Though Multiverse of madness‘Campaign promotions have not fully demonstrated that Captain Carter, the character’s shield and jetpack, is more than enough to build anticipation for her live-action debut.
Captain Carter had an impressive debut in What if…?, and it seems that momentum is expected to continue on the big screen. Although it is unknown whether this iteration of the character is the same from the animated series, it is safe to assume that this Captain Carter will have the same persistence and gravel as it appears from the footage shown in the new promo.
It remains to be seen if Strange knows MCU’s Peggy Carter, but his surprised reaction could suggest he has an idea. Previous footage also confirms that Captain Carter will face Wanda Maximoff, indicating that an intense showdown is in the cards.
Meanwhile, intriguing images of Wong and Scarlet Witch talking to each other seem to tease either a team-up or a match. However, given that the opening sequence shows them walking from the portal together, it appears that a ceasefire has been entered into.
Wanda’s attack on the Illuminati complex is highlighted, showing the scarlet witch’s anger once again. Doctor Strange’s fight against Sinister Strange seems to tease that the future Sorcerer Supreme will do whatever it takes to win by using every magic trick in his arsenal.
Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness premieres in theaters on May 6.
