New Doctor Strange 2 photos reveal the best look of Charlize Theron’s Clea

Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness launched the franchise with its head first into the deepest corners of the comic book world. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and Xochitl Gomez ‘America Chavez were just a few of the characters who explored these enormous depths. With this exploration, however, came a few new faces, including one that has an extensive history with Strange himself.

Warning – This article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness.

In Marvel Comics, Clea is a prominent witch and a possible love interest and wife of Stephen Strange. She also has close family ties to Dormammu, one of 2016’s primary antagonists Doctor Strange.

In MCU alias Universe-616, Clea is portrayed by actress Charlize Theron, who seems to be helping Doctor Strange correct a universal intervention he has caused (Multiverse of madness explains one “whim” as two universes in the broader multiverse that collide).

It was rumored that Clea was performing in Doctor Strange sequel as far back as February 2020, and now Theron has given some close look at MCU’s new wizard in a few posts on social media.

Charlize Theron: MCU’s next witch

On Twitteractress Charlize Theron posted a close-up of the makeup made on her for her post-credit appearance as the sorceress Clea in Benedict Cumberbatchs Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness.

The image, as seen below, highlights Clea’s cartoon purple aura. Theron texted it quite simply: “Meet Clea:”

Theron’s Clea appeared in the mid-credits section of Multiverse of madnessapparently to seek help from Cumberbatch’s Strange with a new one “whim.” Theron posted a still image from this scene in an Instagram post:

The close-up of Clea’s makeup undoubtedly perfectly matches the costume Theron wears during her MCU debut, with purple dominating throughout:

Cumberbatch’s Strange has met its new MCU match

If there’s one thing Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange learned in Doctor Strange 2, it is that he and Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer is simply never meant to be in any universe. However, he must not woe over that realization for long.

Clea will no doubt be a great player, at least in Doctor Strange franchise, moving forward in the MCU. In the comics, her powers not only derive largely from the dark dimension that she rules over, but she eventually becomes the Sorcerer Supreme herself as well.

While MCU has never followed the comics exactly, Marvel Studios is bound to draw some side-to-screen comparisons as usual, especially for a character as game-changing as Clea.

Plus, with Doctor Strange now apparently facing the consequences of his brief use of Darkhold, Charlize Theron’s sorceress has the potential to become a friend or ally, either helping him through this debacle or pulling the not-so-theoretical cloak out under him.

Viewers will likely see Theron’s Clea in the next one Doctor Strange rate or possibly a franchise-exciting team-up a-la Avengers-style.
