Nemanja Matic got into an argument with some Arsenal fans during Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat at the Emirates on Saturday, where he mocked them over his title collection.

The Red Devils got off to a sad start to the match and collected just three minutes after Nuno Tavares pressed from close range before Bukayo Saka doubled the lead from the penalty spot.

But Cristiano Ronaldo got an immediate response and United had the chance to equalize midway through the second half, but Bruno Fernandes sent his penalty kick outside via the outside of the post.

A few minutes later, Granit Xhaka ended the match with a series of efforts – although it was somewhat controversial as Eddie Nketiah was in an offside position and blurred the view of David de Gea.

Matic, who assisted Ronaldo’s goal with a fine cross, was substituted in the 77th minute and replaced by Marcus Rashford as United chased an unlikely path back into the match.

But as he sat in the grave to watch the final embers of the match, the veteran Serb allowed himself to be run down by a section of Arsenal supporters behind the United bench.

The fans kept the 3-1 score on their fingers and taunted Matic, which made him strike back.

Matic even held up three fingers and shouted at them, ‘Three, me. Three titles for me, you zero. ‘

His response, however, may not have had the desired effect, as the midfielder’s nip only encouraged Arsenal fans to mock him even more over the goal line.

Matic has not won any silverware since switching to Old Trafford, although he won the Premier League title twice – once under Jose Mourinho, once under Antonio Conte – and also the Premier League in Portugal with Benfica.

The 33-year-old confirmed earlier this month that this season would be his last at United, saying: ‘After much deliberation, I have decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players about my decision.

– It has been a huge honor and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support. I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strong as possible. ‘
