His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, has issued a decision regarding the establishment of a committee to resolve disputes related to family businesses.
The decision stipulated that a committee called the “Family Commercial Disputes Resolution Committee” would be established in the Ras Al Khaimah Courts, headed by Judge Muhammad Shawqi Muhammad Salem Al Khadrawi and comprising Salem Ali Al Sharhan Al Nuaimi and Dr Ahmed Rashid Ahmed Obaid Al Shumaili.
The committee assumes the powers provided for in Federal Decree-Law No. 37 of 2022 on family businesses.
Advisor Ahmed Mohammed Al Khatri, Head of Ras Al Khaimah Courts, welcomed the move, which comes as part of initiatives sponsored by His Highness the Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah to develop the judiciary and judicial and legal services in the emirate.
Advisor Al Khatri said: “The decision to form a “Family Business Dispute Resolution Committee” in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has great significance and a positive impact on the implementation of Federal Law No. 37 of 2022, which aims to provide a preventive solution. guaranteed in the face of family conflicts and disputes that affect important established economic entities that are part of our national economy and require exceptional and fair methods with legal guarantees and realistic expertise that knows the elements of sustainability and preserves these entities from any potential loss that may result from disagreements and disputes over shares and divide them with dangerous consequences.
Advisor Al Khatri added that the Courts Department has initiated administrative and legal procedures to facilitate the work of the committee and its preparation to receive any request or trial within its jurisdiction.
