Minister of Agriculture Tomar encourages farmers to use advanced technologies

The Union’s Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar has stressed the importance of adopting advanced technologies for the agricultural community and the need to formulate more farmers’ producer organizations in the country.

The Minister delivered the opening speech on a virtual platform at the nationwide campaign organized by the Coconut Development Board for Coconut Farmers along with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare as part of the Kisan Bhagidari Prathmika Hamari campaign under the Annadata Devo Bhava program.

He said the program is being organized on a mission form as part of eradicating poverty in the country right from the village level. As part of the Kisan Bhagidari Prathmika Hamari campaign under Annadata Devo Bhava, the government is trying to highlight the importance of farmers’ participation.

Kailash Choudhary, Minister of Agriculture and Welfare of Farmers, urged farmers to take advantage of all the schemes introduced by the government and adopt the technologies, new seeds and new varieties of crops that have been developed.

Krishi Vigyan Kendras from across the country facilitated the participation of farmers in the program through virtual mode. The minister also interacted with the peasants, who had taken advantage of various benefits that the government had extended.

About 200 coconut farmers and FPO members participated in the program. The inauguration of the office building with farmers’ training center in the board’s DSP farm in Tripura was also held as part of the campaign.

Virtual fair

A three-day virtual fair on coconut products showcasing a range of processed products made from coconut was also kickstarted, with 530 buyers and 50 sellers signing up on the first day.

The Coconut Development Board also implemented 14 programs in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Tripura and Lakshadweep as part of the campaign.
