The summer purchase White had almost always been present in the heart of his team’s defense since his switch from Brighton, but a hamstring injury prevented him from taking part in Sunday’s 2-1 win over West Ham.
“Ben was injured vs Man United,” Arteta revealed at her post-match press conference. ‘We have to assess him within the next few days.’
White’s stand-in, Rob Holding, delivered a man of the match, scoring his first Premier League goal ever after six years as an Arsenal player.
“I’m really happy, especially for Rob Holding, as he has not played the number of minutes he deserves,” Arteta added.
– He was the man of the match today. He is always there when we need him. ‘
The victory also featured Tomiyasu, who got his first Premier League start since January and comfortably managed everything West Ham had to throw at him.
Arteta was forced to replace the reliable Japanese national team player with 12 minutes left, while the former Bologna defender seemed to hold on to his calf.
“Tomi has been out for so long and he could not continue,” said Arteta, who added that he was not worried about the 22-year-old’s injury.
