May Calamawy imagines if Layla was Khonshus’ avatar in Moon Knight

Knights of the Moon is one of the most exciting shows at Disney + with Oscar Isaac and May Calamawy in the lead roles. It has captured the imagination of the audience by expanding the knowledge of the MCU, including the kingdom of the gods. The special gods in the series are the Egyptian gods known as the Ennead. One of their former members, Khonshu, is the god of the moon and forces Marc Spector, known as the Moon Knight.

When a human becomes an avatar of the Ennead, they can become a medium for the powers of that god. In the case of Moon Knight, Marc Spector has increased strength, durability, healing and other abilities. In order to be chosen as an avatar for Khonshu specifically, the candidate must have a strong moral conscience. Layla, played by May Calamawy, has not only shown such a moral conscience, but she has also proved to be quite skilled. Both could make her a good candidate for the moon god.

While the series has teased viewers with the prospect of Layla becoming a candidate for Khonshus bondage, The Movie Blog wanted a more direct answer. During a press conference, we spoke with May Calamawy about this exciting hypothetical situation. Read her comments below:

The movie blog: If Layla were to become Khonshus’ avatar, how would you imagine [her] as Khonshus’s avatar? What would she wear? What would she do?

maj Calamawy: I feel like they would quarrel so much. (laughs) I just think they see things so differently that it would automatically be their dynamic.

maj Calamawy: What would she wear? It’s so funny you’re asking about it because someone sent me art [as a] female moon knight. And ‘I think, where are those breasts from?’ It was so intense! It was like open … breasts out with security and everything! And I thought, ‘No, that’s not at all what I would choose to wear.’

I think in comics, women have been sexualized in that sense, and it’s just not interesting anymore. We have so much more to offer. Women are incredible and sexy and more. We choose what we want to show. So I think something that is effective [to move around in], fight and stay warm. I mean, men get these really cool costumes. I think something a little more reserved would be cool.
