New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen to sign Christian Eriksen for nothing this summer, according to The Daily Star.
The Lowdown: Eriksen in demand
Eriksen, who has been branded as one ‘superstar’ by Graeme Bailey, returned to the Premier League in January after signing a short-term deal with Brentford.
How many signings should Man Utd make this summer?
The 30-year-old has played seven games for the Bees, which has contributed to three goals. Brentford have won five and drawn one of the six matches he has started, resulting in six English clubs showing interest in his services. He is out of contract at the end of June and a move to Old Trafford to work under Ten Hag has now been proposed.
Latest: United participate in the race
The Daily Star shared a story about Eriksen late Saturday night and revealed that the Red Devils are now interested in the offensive midfielder.
Ten Hag believes Eriksen, who trained with him at Ajax earlier this year, will be the perfect signing to kick-start a major Old Trafford rebuild.
Would you like to see Eriksen at Old Trafford?
Yes, get him in!
No, look elsewhere!
Verdict: Smart move?
Ralf Rangnick believes that up to 10 players can come to the club this summer, so United managers must be smart in the market.
Therefore, it could be an extremely shrewd move to pick up Eriksen for free. The Danish national team player has contributed 121 goals in 233 Premier League and has in recent months shown that he still has his quality to play with in England.
United may also be left with only Bruno Fernandes as their only senior attacking midfielder should Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata leave when their contracts expire at the end of June, so it may be a wise call to add Eriksen to the mix.
