Man, 29, charged with two armed robberies at Small Heath bookmakers

A man has been charged with two armed robberies at a city bookmaker. Falak Zaman, from Small Heath, was charged with two counts of robbery, May 2 and 16, and possession of an imitation firearm.

The 29-year-old was due to appear in Birmingham Magistrates Court today, May 20.

A West Midlands police spokesman said: “We have charged a 29-year-old man with two armed robberies at a bookmaker in Small Heath earlier this month.

“It comes after we were called to reports of a man allegedly threatening a gun at Duddeston train station on Wednesday 18 May.

“Armed officers participated in and arrested a man suspected of possession of a firearm and robbery. Falak Zaman, from Small Heath, has been charged with two counts of robbery on May 2 and 16 and possession of an imitation firearm for the purpose of creating fear.of violence.

“Zaman, 29, was in police custody overnight and is due to appear in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today.”
