Luxurious spas in the West Midlands named finalists in Good Spa Guide 2022

Six Midlands spas have been named the nation’s best in this year’s Good Spa Guide. The awards offer an expert guide to showcase the very best from the UK spa industry.

People can vote in each of the nine categories between May 16 and June 6. Belfry Spa near Sutton Coldfield has been nominated in the Best Spa Day category, while Staffordshire’s Hoar Cross Hall is a finalist in the Best Hotel Spa category.

Malvern Spa in Worcestershire has been named Best Health Club Spa and Moddershall Oaks, also in Staffordshire, has been named Best Spa for Wellness. Meanwhile, The Elms Hotel and Greenhouse Spa in Worcestershire is nominated in the Best Boutique Spa category – while House Spa at Dormy House, also in Worcestershire, is nominated in two categories, Best Boutique Spa and Best Spa for Guest Experience.

According to the Good Spa Guide’s website, there were some “excellent nominations this year showing the very best from the UK spa industry”. Here’s a look at the six spas that have been nominated.

The Belfry Hotel and Spa

Belfry Hotel and Spa, close to Sutton Coldfield, is a resort set in more than 550 acres of countryside, not far from Birmingham city center. The spa offers a range of ESPA treatments, a decadent relaxation room and a study for nails and beauty.

The spa also has a fire and ice experience – which offers foot spa, showers, caldarium, igloo, aroma steam baths, sanarium, sauna and hydrotherapy pool. While the leisure club has a large pool and two hot tubs, as well as a cafe with an outdoor terrace.

Other features at The Belfry include a relaxation room with day beds, double treatment rooms and family bath times. It was also a finalist in the 2021 Good Spa Guide Awards.

The Elms Hotel and Greenhouse Spa

You can find The Elms Hotel and Greenhouse Spa in Abberley, not far from Stourport, in Worcestershire. And it is located in the beautiful landscape.

The spa is housed in a modern annex behind the hotel, surrounded by beautiful gardens. You can swim lengths in the spa’s heated indoor pool, which has floor-to-ceiling windows, before enjoying the indoor-outdoor hydropool with bubbling jets.

Thermal facilities include a steam room, sauna, ice fountain and rainforest shower. There is also a roof terrace and garden café. The Elms was also a finalist in 2019 in the Good Spa Guide Awards.

Hoar Cross Hall

Situated away in the countryside of Staffordshire, Hoar Cross Hall offers an idyllic spa resort destination – whether it’s a spa day or a short stay. It has two swimming pools, relaxation areas and thermal facilities.

There is a range of facial and body treatments available, with products from Elemis and VOYA. Other popular features in the spa include a hydrotherapy pool with jet blows, a Nordic heating and ice suite, heated sun loungers and water beds.

There is also a large fitness center, daily training program and an Italian water park. Hoar Cross Hall was a winner of the 2021 Good Spa Guide Awards.

Malvern Spa

Located in Malvern, Worcestershire, Malvern Spa is modern with a modern boutique feel. It is also the only pool in the UK filled with natural Malvern spring water.

There are six different thermal experiences and a relaxation room – which makes Malvern more of a destination spa. Other features of the spa include an indoor to outdoor hydrotherapy pool, Kelo sauna, salt cave and crystal steam bath.

There are also four adventure shower experiences, luxurious treatment rooms and fitness classes. Malvern Spa was also a finalist in 2021 in the Good Spa Guide Awards.

The House Spa at Dormy House

The House Spa at Dormy House is located on Broadway on the outskirts of Worcestershire. It is a stunningly renovated Cotswold farmhouse.

The modern spa contrasts pure Scandinavian design with Cotswold stone, while facilities include a 16-meter infinity pool, thermal experiences, a champagne nail salon and a fully equipped fitness center. A variety of treatments are available using Temple Spa and Natura Bissé.

There is also a lavender-infused sauna, hot juniper hut, wet showers and a Rasul mud room. The House Spa at Dormy House was a finalist in the 2020 Good Spa Guide Awards.

Moddershall Oaks

Moddershall Oaks, based in Stone, Staffordshire, is set in 72 acres of picturesque countryside. Their facilities include three pools, a kelo sauna, a steam bath and an experience shower.

It also boasts reflexology foot baths, a sleeper lounge and cozy relaxation room with open fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden. You can also explore the forests and stroll around the private lake.

There is also a deli bar, nail salon, spa shop and tennis courts. Moddershall Oaks was a finalist in 2019 in the Good Spa Guide Awards.
