Louisiana security guard charged with helping 3 jailed teens escape; all 4 are missing

Louisiana authorities are looking for three young prisoners who escaped from a jail, allegedly with the help of a 21-year-old security guard, state police said Saturday.

Tyjuan Lafitte, 17; Na’varaya Lane, 17; and Jeremiah Durham, 15; all fled the Ware Youth Center in Coushatta just before 3 a.m. Saturday, police said. Video footage showed 21-year-old security guard Victoria Tune taking the trio away from the premises in a white 2010 Pontiac G6, the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Police were not alerted until around 6 p.m. 6:50 a.m. when incoming daycare staff noticed the three were missing, the sheriff’s office said.

Lafitte is charged with attempted murder in the first degree, Lane is charged with attempted murder in the second degree, and Durham is charged with armed robbery, state police said, adding that “all three are considered dangerous.”

The three escaped young people and the security guard accused of helping them escape.

The three young people are now also wanted for simple escape, and Tune is wanted for three cases of complicity in simple escape, the state police inform.

All three youngsters were last seen wearing orange jumpsuits. The state police and the sheriff’s office gave two slightly different license plate numbers: VWY295 and VWY296.
