Los Angeles police are responding to an armed robbery near the exclusive Beverly Center mall

A person was robbed of weapons Thursday near one of Los Angeles’ busiest malls as cheeky thefts continue to plague the city and surrounding areas.

The latest incident took place around noon. Officers arrived and informed police that an armed robbery was taking place across the street from a hotel.

A suspect armed with a handgun stole a watch from someone and was last seen running into a parking building, police said. The suspect then ran out of the structure on San Vicente Boulevard.

Officers searched the area and caught the suspect and found the stolen watch, police said.

Social media posts initially said there was an active shooter inside the mall and that a barricade had been ordered. The mall’s security staff told Fox News Digital that the mall was never closed and no shots were fired.

Beverly Center, which borders West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, houses a number of retail stores, including high-end brands such as Balenciaga, Burberry, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Robbery has become a growing concern in and around Los Angeles as thieves continue to target unsuspecting victims, even in broad daylight. In March, a man was robbed of a $ 13,000 Rolex with weapons in Culver City, Fox-affiliated KTTV reported.

On Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, a victim was shot several times by suspects who tried to rob him on April 10th. He ran into a clothing store as he avoided the shot.
