The 20th Liwa Dates Festival competitions concluded yesterday, Sunday, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, as part of a strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), in the city of Liwa, Al Dhafra region. The twentieth session of the Liwa Dates Festival recorded the reception of 116,513 visitors, over a period of 14 days, and the participation of more than 570 farmers in its various competitions.
Farmers participating in the competition provided 8 tons and 510 kilograms of dates and fruits, including 7 tons and 70 kilograms of dates and one ton and 440 kilograms of fruits.
The festival featured 23 competitions, for which 293 prizes were awarded, worth more than 8 million and 300 thousand dirhams, and were distributed between 11 date decoration competitions in the categories of “Dabbas, Khalas, Fard, Al-Khunaizi, Bu Maan, Al-Shishi and Akbar Adaj, the Al-Dhafra and Liwa competitions for elite dates, and the Fard and Khalas Al-Ain competitions and 7 fruit competitions in the categories of “various and local lemons, various”. and local mangoes, red and yellow figs and the house fruit basket”, and 3 competitions for the model farm in the categories “Western Districts, Eastern Districts and Cities of Al Dhafra”, a competition for the most beautiful myth and a competition for the most beautiful heritage model, with a total of The festival prizes amount to more than 8 million and 300 thousand dirhams.
