The latest: The UN has expressed hope that the first grain shipments from blockaded Ukrainian ports could start on Friday. However, the exact coordinates needed to ensure safe passage for ships were still being negotiated on Thursday, UN aid chief Martin Griffiths said.
The fight: Russia’s latest operational pause, which analysts have identified in recent weeks as an attempt to regroup troops before doubling down on Ukraine’s south and east, appears to be over. Russia looks set to resume offensives on the ground, with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Saturday telling troops to step up strikes “in all operational sectors” in Ukraine.
The weapons: Ukraine makes use of weapons such as Javelin anti-tank missiles and Switchblade “kamikaze” drones, supplied by the US and other allies. Russia has used a variety of weapons against Ukraine, some of which have attracted the attention and concern of analysts.
