Johnny Depp’s defamation case against Amber Heard: Drew Barrymore apologizes for a comment on the case

Depp is suing Heard, his ex-wife, for $ 50 million, alleging that she slandered him with a 2018 Washington Post-op oath in which she wrote about her experience of domestic violence.

Depp was not mentioned by name in Heard’s play, but he has said it has cost him work.

On his talk show last week, Barrymore called the trial a “seven-layer dive of insanity” and “crazy.”

“It’s like a layer of crazy; it’s a seven-layer dive of insanity. I know it’s the real life of two people, and I know what it’s like to have your life made public,” Barrymore said. “I understand all the emotions, but they actually offer this information that no one needed to know. This is crazy!”

Barrymore took to social media to say she could have been more thoughtful.

“It has come to my attention that I have insulted people by making light of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and for that I just want to deeply apologize and appreciate everyone who has spoken out, because this can be an educational moment for me. “and how I move forward. and how I behave. All I want to do is be a good person,” Barrymore said in a video posted to Instagram. “I can be a more thoughtful and better person on the way forward because all I want to do is be a good person and I really appreciate the depth of this and I want to grow and change from that.”

The trial, which began on April 11, is expected to last six weeks. Heard is expected to testify this week.
