DALLAS – Utah Jazz star shooter Donovan Mitchell limped off the field after his buttocks were tightened late in the Mavericks’ 102-77 blowout Game 5 victory Monday night in Dallas.
Mitchell said he will undergo an MRI on Tuesday in Salt Lake City, but expressed optimism that he will be available for Thursday’s Match 6, where the Jazz face elimination.
“This is the playoffs, so I have to find a way,” said Mitchell, who doubled in pain in the tunnel as he limped to the locker room. “We’ll see how I feel, but I’m a competitor.”
The Jazz were down by 28 when Mitchell left with 4:41 left.
Mitchell was held to nine points on 4-of-15 shots and committed four turnovers. Jazz was surpassed by 38 points during his 32 minutes.
Mitchell has an average of 26.0 points per game. match, but he shoots only 37.9% from the floor and 19.5% from 3-point range in this series.
