Israel attacked Lebanon in response to rocket attacks

TEL AVIV — Israel launches artillery shells into southern Lebanon after militants there fired a rocket into northern Israel, said the Israeli military, which opened a new front in the current Israeli-Palestinian tensions.

The Israeli military said the rocket landed in an open area near a small kibbutz and caused no damage. The military said in response that it targeted the source of the launch and an unspecified infrastructure of artillery fire early Monday. No group claimed responsibility for the attack and no injuries were reported in Lebanon.
