Inflation has overtaken wage growth. Now it cuts in spending.

Early in the Covid-19 pandemic, U.S. wage growth accelerated as weekly earnings rose more than 7% in April and May 2020 compared to the same months the year before.

The gains were boosted by low inflation and lower spending, strengthening the economy for Americans who kept their jobs.
