Hayley Williams joins Billie Eilish on Coachella for ‘Misery Business’

Billie Eilish surprised Coachella Weekend 2 contestants with Hayley Williams on Saturday night to perform with Paramore’s 2007 hit “Misery Business”.

Williams’ performance came after Eilish and her brother Finneas played “Your Power” from her latest album, with sibling duets on acoustic guitar. There was a pause after the end of the song, where anticipation filled the air and Eilish sat down on a stool to present her guest.

“Oh, look! An empty seat. Who is it for?” said Eilish with a mischievous look. “Everyone, may we please welcome my friend Hayley Williams!”

Backed by Finneas and another guitarist, Williams and Eilish provided an acoustic rendition of the pop-punk tune. Eilish seemed overjoyed to have Williams as a guest and let out an excited howl as she walked onto the stage. The two jumped and hugged as Williams spoke to the audience. “This is my first Coachella, whoa,” Williams said. “Thank you for sharing this with me. This is sick!”

Before they broke out in song, Eilish asked, “Hayley, do you want to sing something?” To which Williams replied, “Yes, I’m better at singing than talking.”

“Misery Business” was perfectly tailored to the powerful vocals of both singers, with Williams standing for the first verse and Eilish jumping in to add a lower harmony to the chorus. “We sound good,” Williams said, before Eilish added his characteristic whispering tone to the second verse.

“Oh my fucking good,” Eilish exclaimed, after Williams left the stage. “Absolutely what in the world could be cooler than that? I’m dead serious.”

Last weekend, Eilish brought Damon Albarn from Gorillaz fame to perform “Feel Good Inc” alongside Posdnuos from De La Soul.
