LOUISVILLE, Ky. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer was beaten Saturday night in the entertainment and retail complex Fourth Street Live !, said a spokesman for the mayor’s office.
Fischer “is fine,” according to a statement from Jessica Wethington, communications director for Fischer’s office. Louisville Metro Police are investigating the incident.
The LMPD has released photos of the person they believe beat Fischer. This person has not been identified.


Craig Greenberg, the Democratic candidate in Louisville’s mayoral race, tweeted in response to the incident Saturday night.
“Tonight my thoughts are with the mayor and his family. Whoever is responsible for this assault must report himself. We cannot resolve our disagreements with violence,” he said.
LMPD spokeswoman Angela Ingram said anyone with information about the incident should call the department’s anonymous tip line 502-574-5673 or send information to the LMPD’s crime tip portal.
Fischer was seen participating in various activities around the city on Saturday, including Race For Justice in honor of Breonna Taylor.
