Ten children and two adults have been hospitalized after a van collided with a pickup truck in northeast Indiana.
A preliminary investigation shows that the pickup truck did not yield the right of way at an intersection and was hit around 7:15 p.m. Monday by a passenger car in Fort Wayne, state police said.
The impact split the pickup in half.
The children – aged 6 months to 15 years – and a 41-year-old driver were inside the van. All had their seats on, and some suffered minor injuries. Several people were trapped inside the van after the accident, according to the police.
Alcohol use by the pickup’s 65-year-old driver, who was also injured, was suspected, the police said.
