The body of a 93-year-old woman from Florida was found in a garage freezer after a search launched by concerned neighbors, police said.
Police were sent to Marie Hoskins’ residence for a wellness check after neighbors reported they had not seen her for a while and later found the woman’s body in the home and the woman’s daughter waiting inside, FOX 35 in Orlando reported.

Sebastian police captain Timothy Wood said a first attempt to enter the residence had failed, but the officer “had a gut feeling that something was not right” and a second attempt was made.

Officers then called a relative outside the city of the homeowner, who assigned a key outside the home that gave them access, police said.
They entered the home and found the unidentified daughter, 64, inside, police said.
“We opened the door and she happened to be in the residence,” Wood said, FOX 35 reported. “I do not know if she did not hear us knocking on the door or whatever it was, but she happened to be inside when we started walking. through the home. “

The woman told officers she had not seen or heard from her mother recently, prompting the suspicious officers to search the home, police said.
“Officers somehow decided to continue searching the residence, after which they found the 93-year-old deceased in a chest freezer in the garage,” Wood explained, FOX 35 reported.

The daughter was not arrested or charged with a crime and willingly went to the police for questioning, police said. She is cooperating with an ongoing investigation, the Sebastian Police Department said.
“Detectives are actively working with the Medical Examiner and the Public Prosecutor’s Office on this case, as it is still active at present,” the department said.
Hoskins’ body is expected to be autopsied.
