Sharjah, 24 April / WAM / During its ordinary meeting in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Community Development, the General Assembly of the Emirates Publishers Association approved the Board’s report on the work of the past year. and activities should serve its member publishers and make the most of the opportunities it offers.
During the meeting, Ali Obaid bin Hatem, chairman of the association’s board, praised the efforts of the association’s work team in the past year, reviewing the association’s activities and external participations, programs and results in the past year, including workshops, sessions, evenings, participation in local and international exhibitions and the launch of the publishers’ training program.
The General Assembly meeting discussed the 2022 programs and the expected participation of the local and foreign association during it and the proposed financial budget for the current financial year, in addition to discussing proposals from some members and approving amendments to the statutes to improve its work and strengthen its role in to serve the member publishers The members of the association voted on the changes, which included three points related to controls and procedures for representing the association in members of local, regional and international organizations and federations.
After the meeting, His Excellency Ali Obaid bin Hatem said: “We have approved the association’s work plan and programs for the coming period and focused on intensifying the use of the various capacities that the association possesses to achieve a qualitative leap in its activities to serve. member publishers and supports the sustainability and growth of the publishing sector in the UAE, in particular in the field of book distribution and marketing. ”
He added: “We trust the great support that the association enjoys, especially the patronage and generosity of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Councilor and ruler of Sharjah, including his directive to establish an affiliate distribution company. with the association, whose logistical role we are working on being a contributor in the coming period in the transfer of member publishers wrote to new markets.
