Emirates News Agency – “Climate Change and Environment” receives a German delegation

DUBAI, 9th August, 2019 (WAM) — The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has received a delegation from the German Agency for Development Cooperation and the German NGO Succow for Environmental Conservation, as part of its eagerness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences between the two countries to protect the environment and preserve marine nature reserves and promote ecotourism.

The Ministry, represented by the Institute for Biological Diversity, discussed with the German delegation future trends and visions regarding ecotourism in marine areas and how to cooperate and coordinate efforts in the areas of marine pollution control, environmental sustainability and other environmental issues of great importance to the two countries .

The visit included a tour for the delegation of the Marawah Marine Reserve – the largest marine reserve in the region and the first marine reserve accredited by UNESCO, which includes a wide variety of wildlife and is home to almost 60% of the country’s dugongs, and contains various types of bottlenose dolphins – and humpback dolphins, in addition to 4 species of sea turtles, 70 species of fish, coral reefs and mangroves.
