EASTENDERS fans are confident that soap villain Chrissie Watts will make the Albert Square comeback after a series of cryptic tweets.
Soap fans have been begging to get Tracy-Ann Oberman’s brutal character back – who played Den Watt’s wife between 2004 and 2005 on BBC soap – since January.
Their comments came when Sam Mitchell arrived in Walford after leaving his son.
She has stepped up to run the family business while her on-screen brother, Phil Mitchell, is in jail
In terms of time, the killer Chrissie should have been released from prison now for Dirty Den’s murder.
Chrissie cracked the skull in Queen Vic’s basement and went on to charge Sam with the crime before finally confessing and going to jail.
BBC star Tracy, 55, has now raised speculation that she will be on screen shortly after tweeting showboss Chris Clenshaw and has written: “Hi Chris, can you give me a follow up.
The tweet was followed by her teasing that she was filming for something when she wrote, “Oh, I love a nightshoot #filming.”
A fan commented below: “Really?”
Another added, “Me too. They are the best!”
Fans are now desperate to see Sam and Chrissie clash again.
One wrote: “Chrissie is a character I would welcome back with open arms.
“I would love to see her interactions with the modern incarnation of Sharon aka Carbonara Killer.”
Another said, “Bring Chrissie back too! She’s going to jail now.”
Another added, “I would love for Chrissie to return!”
Actress Kim Medcalf is once again taking on the role of Sam in front of original star Danniella Westbrook.
Sam – daughter of Queen Vic boss Peggy Mitchell – made her Walford debut in 1990, played by a 17-year-old Danniella.
But when the actress struggled with substance abuse, she was replaced by Kim in 2002.
Kim, 48, played Sam until 2005. Danniella, 48, repeated the role in 2009 and then again in 2016, when Sam joined his family for Peggy’s funeral.
EastEnders confirmed that Kim has been re-cast as Sam, who left son Ricky when she left Walford.
And sources said that BBC soap bosses – who have been in talks with Kim since last autumn – are planning a series of explosive stories.
One said, “Sam’s return has been in the cards for some time. They felt she fit naturally into this version of Sam. It doesn’t matter to Danniella, she created an icon like the character.”
