Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness released a new clip showing America Chavez’s multiverse forces.
The short clip shows Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange and Xochitl Gomez ‘America Chavez traveling fast through several different multiverses, with a cubic universe (as seen in several trailers for the upcoming film), an old black and white TV universe, a universe where everyone is rainbow paint and more. The clip is an example of America Chavez’s powers, as she has the ability to jump through multiverse by creating star-shaped portals that can be clearly seen at the end of the clip.
Created by author Joe Casey and artist Nick Dragotta, America Chavez debuted at Marvel Comics in 2011’s Revenge # 1 and Multiverse of madness will mark her first live-action appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, America can kick and punch star-shaped holes in the multiverse, allowing her to travel from one reality to another, as shown in the clip.
“America is one we’ve been trying to get into the MCU for a long time,” said producer Richie Palmer about America Chavez’s MCU debut and how her unique powers will contribute to Doctor Strange successor. “This felt like the best place to do it because ‘Multiverse’ is in the title, and her powers have specifically to do with Multiverse – her powers are that she can open doorways to other universes. It’s something we do not have seen in our film, a character who can actually go from one universe to another. It’s crazy in itself for characters like Doctor Strange and Wong, whose job is to protect those barriers. “
Multiverse of madness will pick up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and bind directly to two of Marvel’s Disney + series, WandaVision and Loki. After the success of No way homeit was reported that Multiverse of madness would have “more fun with the multiverse”, with remakes, including even more cameos and character introductions than originally intended. Among the possible cameos are an appearance by Patrick Stewart as Professor X and an appearance by Captain Carter, which was introduced in Marvel’s What if…? series.
Though Doctor Strange the sequel will dive further into the multiverse, Waldron has explained that the multiverse will not be used as a plot device or a “MacGuffin”, and will instead serve as the emotional core of the film.
Directed by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness coming to the cinema on May 6th.
