DC CELEBRATES GEORGE PÉREZ’S BIRTHDAY THROUGHOUT JUNE
All June comics will have a double-page spread in honor of the legendary artist’s 68th birthday on June 9

DC will celebrate George Pérez’s 68th birthday, one of the titans of the comic book industry, with a two-page spread featuring some of his most beloved characters in each of their periodic releases in June. Some of the industry’s biggest names, including Jim Lee, Walter Simonson, Alex Ross, Dave Gibbons, Todd McFarlane, Daniel Sampere, Jerry Ordway, Nicola Scott and many more, worked from a layout designed by Dan Jurgens, and collaborated on the colorful poster .
“When I was asked to come up with a design and layout that would honor George Pérez and his many incredible contributions to DC Comics over the years, I was truly honored,” said Dan Jurgens. “I have admired George’s work since I first saw it and have had the good fortune to work with him in various capacities on a number of projects. More importantly, I have been able to see how George treats fans and readers, always smiling, sociable and accommodating. It was a pleasure to see this cover come together and I’m sure everyone who has contributed feels the same way. “
The tribute stone features the following DC characters, for whom Pérez is best known, as well as the man himself, designed by a number of the best artists in the industry and colored by Hi-Fi:

For the posting on a separate page, there will be a key highlighting the characters and artists who participated.
In addition to appearing in all of DC’s June issues, the tribute will also be shown as a variant cover for Dark Crisis # 7. Each issue of the event series will feature a cover highlighting a past crisis event from DC’s history, starting with the genre that defines Crisis on infinite lands by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez to number 1. Artwork and further details on each of the front pages will be announced at a later date.
“George Pérez is one of my favorite cartoonists of all time. To say he’s a ‘great artist’ is a massive understatement,” he said. Dark crisis Author Joshua Williamson. “His work with the original Crisis of Infinite Earths inspired so much of my love for DC Comics. When I saw DC editors put together this incredible piece with so many amazing legendary artists celebrating George, I will not lie, it was emotional. And now it’s an honor to make this tribute a cover for Dark crisis. ”
A special version of Dark Crisis # 7 variant cover will be available for sale by The Hero Initiative to raise money for one of Pérez’s favorite charities. Pérez is a founding member of the board of directors of the Hero Initiative and has chaired its payout committee.
